First off, it's one heckuva shot and one heckuva find! Great macro detail, lighting is spot on, colors are very good. I like the fact there's OOF in both the foreground and the background. He's pretty well camoflauged but the DOF used allows the viewer to "find" him. That's a pretty good use of "bokeh" to some extent, but a very sophisticated interpretation is required to see that. The single flower near his head which is also in sharp focus (obviously it had to be) may be what limited the ability of the use of bokeh and/or DOF to bring out the bug more.
There is some noise/grain in the background, but not enough to note. Any picture with a shallow DOF will have noise/grain, and to me it's normal. I certainly don't think it enough to seriously detract from your score but this is a very particular crowd! |
