I didn't mess with this at all 'cause it was just such a spectacular example of color and light by Mother Nature.

Am just revisiting. I suspect you got 'average' votes in the main because the image lacks impact, IMHO. The sky, which was your reason for the shoot in the first place, was so dramatic it deserved more of the frame, and I would have personally been tempted to crop more of the ground off and possibly the area to the left of the needle. A bit of USM and possibly a bit of play with the colours would have given you the WOW you needed for this shot.

Having said all that, when I voted, I gave it a 7. Why didn't I comment at the time? Dunno.
