This is a sad story, but ended up a fairytale.
Gemma is now nearly 16 years of age, as she was born in April 1991, but her start in life was very sad.
As a puppy she was miss treated badly, and locked away.
My dearest friends and neighbours rescured her, at about two years of age.
She was particularly scared of children, as they and treated her badly.
When she joined Anne & Kevin Martin's family, she was spoilt from day one. She is now at the last years of her life, and they have stopped travelling, so as to give their baby some special kindness and love, until it her time.
They have no childrens, but then Gemma is there child, in their eyes.
I spent the afternoon with them yesterday, and took plenty of photos for them as a keepsake.
I am going to share some with you all, re this "30 day Pet collection".
I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
Post News: Gemma Martin passed away on the 14th March 2007 and would have been 16 years old, in April 2007.
This is amazing, even compelling, portraiture. The angle, the gloss on her fur especially at the top of her head, the eyes, the expression really "show" this dog. A good life.
My first horse was an old Lipizzaner whom I had for many years. When he passed, the photos I have of him became my dearest treasures. Your friends will appreciate your thoughtfulness so much in taking these portraits. IMHO, this photo is an endearing tribute to the best possible use of photography.
A very heart touching story Sher. Thank you for sharing it, and for caring enough to take some special photos for her mom & dad. Since these are special memory photos for them, I would do very little extra processing - trying to keep the colors, saturations, and sharpness as close to what you truly see as possible. That way the photos will not only capture the image of their sweety, but the feel too.
