Not bad. Maybe a little too centered but I like the dramatic lighting.

This is really quite beautiful. Everything seems to work really well in this: composition, colour, subject, clarity. Very nice, well done.

Cool! Love the brown tones and the little nordic rug. That little guy looks almost real.

Score: 8

Who's your dad?

I'd give this a solid 8. The subdued lighting makes the details of the peice very well and fits and older theme and feel.

8... I like the sharp focus... could be cropped a little tighter on top.

8 This is a nice macro but I wish it werent so centered. I do like the side lighting and the shadows that it gives.

I was actually thinking about that karmat, but I felt that it did not display a good DoF that I think realy makes a macro shot. I will have to look into putting it off center with maybe some blank board to the left side (as if he is advancing). Thanks for the comments, and please give a numerical vote :)

Very good lighting and focus. The centered composition makes it feel a bit static to me. Because the piece itself has a "tense" look to me, I'm wondering if a crop that only shows part of it, or a crop that really throws the composition "off balance" would lend itself more to that tension? That's not really clear, I know. For example -- divide the shot into fourths. Then, just use the top left. all that would show would be his eye and nose, mouth and beard, and the rest would be negative space. 'Course, understand that is just my opinion on it.

In a way it is similar to both chess and Reversi. This gives a better description than I could:

How neat. The Viking Game, is that like chess?
