I hadn't seen your answer until today. I've been to the San Francisco area only once (my uncle used to work for SLAC so I stayed with him for a week or so mainly to visit with my grandmother, who was staying at a retirement home in Palo Alto; she died shortly thereafter***), and I LOVED it! There are only a couple places in the States that I really liked and San Francisco is one of them (I also really like San Diego, Albuquerque, Moab, and anywhere in Wyoming).

Did I mention that I worked for the Jerry Brown campaign in 1992 right after becoming a US citizen? That's how I learned about the American political system :) Now in December I'm applying for Canadian citizenship.

*** not because of my visit

Well ... he's here now anyway. I'm not quite sure where he's "from" though.

There's also a high-end chocolate works (Scharffen Berger) about 4-5 miles away in Berkeley, and I think Guittard is still in the Bay Area as well. Did I mention this is a popular tourist destination?
