Ill-conceived, tasteless, and poorly exposed. Not to mention the fact you used a child (perhaps your own) to pose for such a worrying shot.

I have looked at this shot SOOOO many times. Couldn't make myself vote on it though. It is definatly a parents worst nightmare. Awesome (if emotionaly hard to look at) shot! What would have made it perfect? The model (your son? How old?) looks a little forced. The head being perfectly up and down and the arm outside the tub makes it look like a breath holding contest. Love the focus, B/W treatment, DOF. One of my top votes if not one of my favorites!

I can't explain why I laughed when I saw this. Maybe it's the arm over the edge of the tub that looks so obviously staged, which makes any intendend horrific effect disappear. The subject is a good sport, though, haha.

Oh, I can definitely identify with this one. It's great that it is in b&w - more impact that way. It could use slightly more light (maybe lamp light bounced off a ceiling)...
I would also suggest shooting it from a different angle (you standing more to the left and making the tub diagonal). Good idea and good shot.

I hope it didn't take you very long to take this picture.

Ouch! That really is a nightmare! This picture is almost too realistic to look at for any lenght of time. Good entry.

So true. how long did he have to hold his breath for this shot! I can hear you: "Just one more time, son!" "Awwww Mom! (or Dad)" Nice composition; the arm outside the tub is a good touch.

To be honest, this type of photo really bothers me. Its disturbing to see a child posed as though they are dead.

Wow you are probably gonna get a lot of neg comments with this one...but I like the photos that make you think, even if it's anger or revulsion. I Think what would have made this more efective is using the available light and not the flash. It pulls the reality out of the photo.

My stomach hits the floor with this photo and I am not a mother. You've captured the rawness of a moment like this...sigh. It's painful but your photo is excellent!!! Well done -- 9.

A little disturbing, but luckily 8 year olds don’t usually drown in the tub :)

This is indeed a nightmare shot. My own children do this to me sometimes and it still makes my heart stop. Now the shot itself, a bit dark for my taste, a little more contrast would have really seemed to help

Yikes...it's a nightmare. The bottom crop is a bit tight on the hand and I think you could of used a bit more light. I don't think this was easy to capture so I'm sure you have done well. This fits the challenge well.

How very true! A hard and direct photo this one, but meets the challenge head on.

Very edgy. It could do with a much tighter crop though... I don't see why the frame is needed both above and to the right of your subject. Perhaps you could focus more on the arm in your composition, this would really add to the shock value. 6

No question! very emotive. I would have liked the image itself more if the contrast was a bit higher and the whole image were rotaed clockwise about 2 degrees. 5

Yep very much a nightmare sort of picture, obvious even without title. Might have been more effective in color, with bright toys etc... but this still works very well. One of my favorite for this challenge.
