Shichi-Go-San, or 7-5-3, is a celebration in Japan for children of those ages. They get dressed up in kimono finery and are taken to the shrine to pray for a good long life etc. The day is officially in November, but shrine visits are every weekend of October (portrait studios charge less if it's earlier).
Taken with the 70-210 zoom lens at a distance, so not as sharp as I would prefer; only slightly cropped. And yes, no feet are showing.
