Good composition and separation of subject from background using both DOF and color. I wonder how this would compare with the corresponding angle from the left with better lighting on the side of the head and arm? Maybe "Leader of the Band" would be slightly more personal for a portrait. I like it. Go Buffs!

Great position in the frame and your use of DOF is really good. I bet it wasn't easy to expose for this shot with whites on the guys uniform! I think I would have to agree with Rina that because of all the colour in the background even with your shallow DOF it is still a little distracting. Never the less, I think this is a nice image....and at least you let the guy have both his hands this time ;o)

Great composition and capture. Definitely brings back memories for me (I marched in HS and college more years than I care to count). I'm on my work monitor (which sucks), but the contrast is a bit high on this. Granted, I suspect it is more the monitor, but if anyone votes with one of these, that is what they are seeing (big help, huh?). Your choice of DOF really works well, I think.

Yeah! You have a new pic on your top scoring line up on your profile. That's always good! Decent percentile to boot! This is a lovely shot. He's well positioned. It's cool that the crowd seems to be pretty much one golden color - a team color no doubt. Well done and a good idea.

I quite liked the exposure and colour in this one, but I think it was a case of the background screaming for more attention than your subject. Perhaps an even tighter dof next time? Unfortunately, American football fever is a little bit lost on me, I'm afraid, but that doesn't make your image any less visually exciting :) Good job!

The head of the drum major is a little dark but I love the composition and the DOF with the crowd in the background.

0-6...tough for this guy to remain enthusiastic, I'd imagine
