I like the subject but I think it's lack of emotional appeal is what hurt it the most. Just seems very static. I think the white background causes this.
I do like how you kept all of the shadow detail on the right side of the face, and the lighting looks like nice standard portrait lighting. Well done on that.
I don't like the edges on the top of the hat. They got blown out with the white background and just bleed in too much. I would've liked a crisp edge like
the rest of the hat at the bottom. I think if you pulled the background farther back and placed it's own light on it to blow it out, it would've left the edge
detail intact. The light would have to travel farther to hit the back of the head and the falloff would've tamed it down. Of course you may have not had the
option of changing this distance. Once again, I think it's just too static for the voters.

....And it does look like chocolate and I also want to eat it.
