I see this was taken with your old camera and I don't know how much control you had over the settings but for future...I would have placed the sun less central in the frame and it looks like the camera has exposed for the sun as a lot of the sky is blown out. With the 300D you will have so much more control over where you expose for in shots like this. Looking forward to your sunrise/sunset shots with the new cam!
