I don't know why this wouldn't be acceptable. Nothing's been changed other than increased visibility into the darker areas of the shot. By nothing changed, I mean the components all appear to be there and the same as the first shot.

I really prefer this version. It is lighter in general and makes it easier for the viewers to see all that is going on in the image...and considering some of the readers of that paper might be old and have limited eyesight...I think this is an important issue.
