Yes, I agree with the statement above. This shot has great potential but I find it distracting due to the fact the foreground flowers are out of focus and they created a distraction due that that fact. If that was reversed and the background was out of focus it could have great possibilities. My opinion, keep shooting.........

not very good focus imo, lovely colours though

Nothing really to do with School Chemistry.

I think it'll be better if the focus was on the front flowers instead of the back ones.

the shallow DOF generally works better when flowers (subject) in front of image are sharp vs. ones in back

Nice lighting and colors on this shot. I find it a little distracting that the foreground flowers are out of focus, with the one on the rear left being what catches my eye. I might prefer for the flowers in front to be the focus.

its a nice setup and such, just really don't care for the dof on it. the lighting is good, colours may be a touch bolder. but that dof throws it.

the focus seems more centered on the father flowers which i think take away from the foreground...

Come on! That's a cheesy way to get a flower pic into this challenge!

Photo is too dark and several elements out of focus.

Back to comment: Sorry to say but I don't feel that flowers fit the challenge description very well. Even if it did, there are a few technical issues with your entry. First, the image could use a bit more depth of focus so that all of the flowers are sharp. Second, this would have been a nicer image if taken at a different time of day. Since the sun in coming from the left, the tallest flower is casting a large shadow right in the middle of the grouping. If the sun was on the right, this shadow would have been prevented and what shadows would have been produced would have contributed to giving a 3-D effect to the grouping instead of causing a distraction.

Indeed indeed. That was before school. Now how about some school days chemistry?

Phew... and I thought we'd manage to get through a challenge without a gratuitous shot of a flower... :P

On an image like this - where the main flower is in the foreground - it's hard to ignore so it looks better in focus.

Not enough focus.

Well, I have tried, often, but it just doesn work to sen images into compititions if they don't fit to the theme, sorry
