Challenge: At Rest (Classic Editing)

Aperture: F2.8
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/25

This submission is a last minute change from my initial offering, it was a bit of a flip of the coin as to which I wanted to use. Have put the other one (Just Sam) in my portfolio!

This is the Mud Maid of the Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall.

I recommend this location and the Eden Project nearby as places that show the vision and drive of the projects' initiator Tim Smit - simply amazing.

Because I used the F700 in Auto for this shot it defaults to Normal sharpening but I have applied a curve adjustment to boost the overall colour/contrast and a crop to remove some distracting background. What looks like a slight colour cast was actually a redness in the soil.

She is designed to become more overgrown, the gardeners apparently use yoghurt to encourage lichen and surface growth - think yyou can do the same to age "modern concrete" statues.

Interesting idea for the challenge. The colors of some of the ground seems a bit off though.

Interesting image. The plants to the left create shoulders. Not sure that's really true, but leaves it up to the viewers imagination.

I might have liked a different angle here so that the distance between the shoulder and the head allowed for a tighter crop. As it is, the head is a bit hard to pick up on at first glance.

I love the composition of this photograph. Its very earthy and has a natural feel to it, plus it evokes serenity and rest to me perfectly - and in a rather unique way. Where is this taken? I love it!

Took me a while to notice the face. It's too bad, but you're probably going to get some low scores because people will vote before taking time to notice the face. I only got it because I read the title before looking at the image. Good work and very interesting. A shot angle away from perpendicular might have made this a bit more visually appealing.

A different and a wider perspective would have made this an excellent picture
