Ptofile shot of the head of a Common Crane-fly (Tipula paludosa).

I know, another insect shot - not very imaginative, but I was playing around with a reversed 50mm SLR lens and came across this subject, who sat still long enough for me to get some shots.

The head is very small - 1-2mm long - and I thought the eyes were pretty amazing. The light 'halo' around the antenna is the far antenna, out of focus.

Wow, a pretty amazing photo. I do like the background color and the different perspective for the side (I hope) instead of head on. For these critters, you did a great job (but I still hate bugs).

Regards,

Sandy

Great details in the eyes of the bug. Great depth of field helps tto make the insect pop out off the picture. You can almost feel the texture of the head and the hair on it. The background really helps to bring it alive.

Great bug-eye. Love the foucs and the colors. You did very well here, and have a super nice lens. This is a busy shot and I wonder if a tighter crop would of focused the viewer on the main subject? Good work.

What an odd insect. I assume a fly of some sort. Great shot.
