thanks everyone for your comments which i really appreciate. I'm a beginner and noticed the spots. i thought they were because of lens fungus or something, but could not touch up the image due to challenge rules. i'll get the sensor cleaned.

ive experimented now with the image based on comments, like cropping, adjusting contrast, highlights and shadows.

my wife had been nagging me for under using the expensive camera, and i'm glad that i posted the image. her nagging paid off and i have leanrt more than a thing :-)

thanks again to all the comments.

Nice soft effect; the sun peeking through is cool. It might have a bit more impact if the tree were a little more off-center.

Nice shapes and sun comming through but the tree is too centered for my taste.

Too bad you couldn't retouch those dust spots...

A little more shutter speed (or darken and contrast).

This would be great, but you need to clean your sensor! You have dust that is causing those dark spots in the sky.

Meets the challenge nicely. A crop so that that good looking tree is not smack in the center, would make this image very exciting.

You're losing out on taking higher quality images with that sensor dust. The pic is too flat. 4

This really shouldn't be centered in the image. You have some sensor dust spots. I really need to get a starlight filter.

Oh man, I saw this one and thought 'wow...that looks cool! I'm sure I won't be the only to say...this would have place really high except for the spots. The sky is a tad grainy...maybe lower ISO would have cleared that up? Anyway, I still like your photo. I'll give it a 7+ despite the flaws. Good luck to you!

Maybe raise the contrast a bit more?
