Simply a shiny stone (hematite?) on a metal kitchen scourer.

Although it may not look it, this is still in colour and without any colour adjustment at all.

Like the low key. could use a bit more contrast and more focus, to bring out the rest of the image. I can tell the focus is on the smooth, but I would like all of it with more detail.

Needs more contrast to help bring the subject out of the picture. The framing helps to give a sense of depth. Nice reflections.

There is enough detail on the smooth object to see that it is perfectly focused, in contrast to the rough material. This parallels the contrast between rough and smooth that is the subject of the photo, adding depth to the meaning of the image. Well done.

Can't really tell what the subject is. Crisp focus would have suited better.

Interesting contrasts. Hard to pick out what things are or see detail in them.

I see what you're trying to achieve here but you needed some rough stuff in focus. I would also have tried to fill the frame with that material too as the surrounding background is not helpful. Lighting from one side (rather than above, middle) would also prevent the glaring central highlight and create more atmosphere.
