Seljalandsfoss is a high, narrow and very beautiful 40 meter high waterfall on the river Seljalandsá. There is a foot path at the bottom of the cliff where you can walk behind the waterfall almost without getting wet :)

I took the picture in the shadow area. You can see the rainbow at the top and 2 people waking behind the waterfall and one in front taking photos at the same time.

Seljalandsfoss is one of the most famous waterfalls of Iceland. It is very picturesque and therefore its photo can be found in many books and calendars.

You can see some more pictures of Seljalandsfoss from the same trip. There you can also see how I cut the top of the same picture to highlight the silhouette effect better:

The things that attract me to it are how GREEN everything is that surrounded it and of course how easy you can see the rainbow i.e. by walking around it. The water is so perfectly clear that we refilled our water bottle with some.

Critique Club Review:

Definetly meets the challenge.

Focus and depth of field are done quite well.

As I sit and look at this picture, my opinion has wavered a bit back and forth. And I think what it is, is that the whole pciture seems a bit dark. Saturation and hue are fine, but the picture comes across as a bit under exposed. I would have liked it brighter to bring more contrast against the silhouette area. I don't feel that the other photographer adds to the composition, and I think I might have liked it better had you waited until they moved on.

You did a very good job of capturing the majesty of the waterfall.
Even with cropping some of the height, it still conveys the power and the motion of the water. Much nicer than those who are tempted to go for a long exposure so the water turns into a featureless white fog.

My only problem with this image is that the silhouette is not the ceneter of interest.

Very good composition!
It's lacking in depth of colour, for my liking, but otherwise is well put together.
Good luck!

Beautiful background. It would be nice to see more of the person. They are a bit obcsured by the grass.

what might hurt this is that the silhouette isnt more prominent. I love the shot though.

Nice silhouette. I would like to see a different composition with more vertical and waterfall.

Very nice silhouette and photograph. That's a really impressive waterfall, I'd love to visit it someday.

The fall is so amazing that it completely obscures the silhouette. But the subject should be the silhouette here.

THis has so much potential, but I can't help but feel you missed out.

The concept, composition and technique are all great, but its the silhouette itself that lets the shot down. The photographer is just too well hidden. If you could have got the photographer on the ridge of the foreground for a more complete silhouette this could have really done well.

As it is I think you have just missed the opportunity here, but its still a nice piece of work - 6/10
