After I saw Bugzeye's entry in the Fire II challenge where a cicada shell was burnt I thought that all those shells stuck to the side of my house could be useful after all. Then this challenge came along and I thought "a-ha, time to use those cicada shells". The intention here is twofold:
1. try some macro shots as I haven't done that before
2. remind voters of those great b-grade horror movies we all love

Post Challenge:
My BIG mistake here was to not use a mainstream movie. I took the title from a "movie" that was on the web and not a "real" movie. This cost me as many voters tried to find the movie in imdb.com. At least I got some good commments about my first macro attempt.

good attempt and composition but looks too "staged" to me and lack the action as suggested by the title. .. 6 for the attempt..

I'm not sure that a 2-minute video counts as a "movie" but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Maybe taking this image from a lower angle would have made the insects more menacing. I guess you would have to have them on the very edge of a table to get the camera any lower. Also the forward leg of the centre insect has been cropped off and it is those legs that are part of their menace.

I couldn't find this movie anywhere so I will hold off voting on it. Thanks for the PM. Its not a bad macro shot but it is a little too busy and I think the cut off bugs on each side hurt the image abit. It could be you were trying to recreate the scene of the film, but when I tried to get it to load it wouldn't work and froze firefox. I think if you could have got your camera lower maybe on a tripod while the bugs were on the table the bugs would have looked even bigger. The focus and sharpness are great, if this was o a tripod I would have set the camera for the largest depth of field I could so that you would get the most details possibly. Hope some of this helps.

Rather generic to be a specific scene recreation. Interesting macro, but the centre bug has funny focus.

While this is a fun shot, it doesn't come across as a scene from a movie. 4

What's the movie title? Can't find your title on imdb.com.
