We have just returned from holidays up in the tropical north of Queensland, at Airlie beach. We went up by train and also returned by train, on the 17/8/2006.
I was so fortunite to be able to get 6 to 8 shots of a magical soft quiet sunset, shining through the clouds above a misty foggy valley. The image I have choosen here has the fog sitting low in amoungst the tree.
I realy love the softness in this image, as it gives a really lovely soft impressionistic painterly feeling to the image.
This scene is just so very country Australian, and all 8 images that I took, could be perfect calander shots, and just so pleased with them all. I will upload all the other images after the challenge is over, for you to see.
I took this up very close to the glass panel window of a fast moving train, and so was just so lucky so many turned out.
I had my ISO speed set at 400, due to the moving bus, the moving boats and the moving train, that we were going to be on most of our holidays.
Even more lucky to find on my return, that we had a "Soft Focus" challenge, which all of the images I took, would be suitable to enter, and also within the required date re entry. |

| GORGEOUS! Definitely feels like a painting and maybe that's why it didn't get a higher score, as people probably were not looking for that in this challenge? But I feel like that is what really makes this image so magical and so engaging to look at. |

| It is hard tell because of the soft focus but the photo seems to be out of focus, especially when you look at the logs in the foreground. Your post-processing makes it look like a painting and not a photograph. The composition is nice but work on the details before shooting the photo. |

| I think you could have got away with having the foreground not quite so soft focus - for me the soft trees and mist are enough and the logs aren't quite as nice. I like the overall feeling of a painting, sort of like a Arthur Streeton |

I would have liked this more if perhaps the trees on the right weren't in it. |
