Wonderful image, I love it just the way it is!
The blown sky works for me, because it makes me focus on the train and the steam. Love the touch of color on the wheels in the lower right.
FWIW, this comment comes from a person who does not generally care one way or the other about trains and who takes nothing BUT sky images...

I was wondering if you maybe were trying to have the sky blown out like it is. I think in that case you should maybe aught to make the back of the train whiter as well. That way it would be more of an effect and the viewer would see what you were trying. It sure would add mistery to the picture like it was coming out of the fog.

I have very often the same problem here in Iceland. The sky is full of clouds and with "normal" or automatic photography it always gets blown up! What I usually do is to take darker pictures and light them up afterwards. In that way I do not loose the details of the clouds. See f.x. my Fool on the hill photo.

wonderful composition! i would love to see this in color!

i agree with the above poster...the sky does look washed out...perhaps it was a hazy day? maybe use a polarizer next time.

The sky looks a little too washed out and this even carries over into the top of the train and the windows as well as the bright spots on the sides of the cars. I love the smoke.
