I like the color shift, but don't like the harsh-ish light on the pencil. I agree that it's not really as simple as it looks though. I did a series of around 40 shots on pencils a while back and it can be pretty tricky. |

Oh man!!! Great finish, but I really think this one should have been on the front page! This is so awesome looking! 9 other people agreed with me in the scoring department :)

It's potentially a truly wonderful shot, but the lighting and the extreme coloring both seem off to me. The magenta fingertips, the strange color of the eraser, plus what appears to be the shadow of the pencil down the middle of her face hurt this image in my eyes. A 7 from me nevertheless. |

Beautifully shot and processed. One of my favorites this challenge. |

I love the shadow of the pencil on her face. I also love the DOF. creepy! 8 |

Great idea! The pencil looks a little weird- there is a dark blue outline around it which is a bit distracting and makes the pencil seem too far removed from the scene... might be more effective if the model's hand and pencil were both in focus? |

Very nice shot. I look forward to reading how you did it. I like how you blurred her face - that emphasizes her hand and the floating pencil. And her face, hand, and pencil are placed well.
The blue tint to the girl detracts from it for me, but still, a 6. |

Somehow the difference in lighting on the pencil and girl (even the hand) make this seem less convincing to me. Even if it's magic, I it should be convincingly real. |

in two minds about the discolouration of the picture, but i do love the style overall. her facial expression is very much like one of those creepy kids sitting at the back of class who's evil thoughts to the kind old geography teacher that subconsciously comes true, resulting in a tragic accident often involving a bell tower. basically, this shot is steeped in potential story and has much character. technically, there's the aforementioned choice of colour, and also the background blur feels a little forced. that aside though incredibly likeable and good fun. 8. |

The picture IMO has too much of a blue glow to it. |

Great composition. The pencil is in focus and the girls is not. Great job. |

Why the weird color shift? Nicely done otherwise. Good composition, good DOF, good lighting. 6 |

I really like this. The focus and DOF is good. My only complaint is the skin tones seem too pinky purple. Wonderfully executed though. 7 |
