it would add more meaning if the candles were at different stages... some almost finished... (stages of life..etc)

I like this photo, with its good use of negative space and depth of field, with the first candle pin-sharp and nothing to distract from the line of living flames.

This photo would look better with something to hold it together on the left. Maybe put the candles in a straighter arrangement too.

too much negative space tho. not exactly rule of thirds picture but i like it.

If going for the straight-towards-you angle, perhaps a vertical format would have worked better?
