Challenge:Fire II (Advanced Editing IV) Camera:Casio Exilim EX-Z750 Location: Providence River Waterfire Date: Aug 12, 2006 Aperture: f5.1 ISO: Auto Shutter: 1/8 sec Date Uploaded: Aug 13, 2006
This was an image taken at Waterfire in Providence, RI...I didn't have a tripod so had to balance the camera on a railing, which wasn't easy..took many shots but this one just seemed to stand out because the humans have a bizarre, Goya type imagery about them...had to clone out a couple of white spots from camera flashes, dodged and increased the saturation in red a little on the people, levels, curves, channels, usm, sharpen edges, burned a few areas, cropped.

I probably would have tried to go a little darker to make it look like the fire was actually floating in the air, but I suck at this, so what do I know?
The fire is so bright it's totally blown out. As to the composition I keep thinking "...and?" There's a whole audience there. What purpose does the fire serve?
