 I just about watched this fire start - when I came upon it, the fire had burned an area hardly the size of a backyard pool. Over the next half hour, I watched as it blazed many acres and darkened the sky.

by the way, the little line in the lower left is a road.

Breathtaking shot! A true example of nature doing it's work. I love the crop, emphasizing the ominous sky. The tiny road really gives the image some perspective, although I wish there was a little more information in the foreground to show its true scale.

This image has a definite artistic feeling. My first thought was that it reminds me of a Turner painting.
