I angled the camera at the bottom of the tree facing up. Very simple. Used auto function, and increased the contrast afterward with basic editing.

Great angle and composition. Centering objects frequently doesn't work as well as thirds, but in this case it certainly does. The highlights in lower left are calling for attention. I would run it through shadow/highights and see if you could tone it down a bit. When shooting, it's better to underexpose a bit than overexpose. If you overexpose you'll never get back what is blown out. However, if something is underexposed you may have a chance. At least that's what I read.

When shooting you may want to try manual settings on camera and see what you can do. Don't be afraid to experiment with the different settings - that's what the erase button is for!

This is a good example for the recent challenge, and feel it deserved a higher position and score.....

Nice going Jeanne. Another solid job on compostion. I love the cropping you did on this one. One suggestion, try playing around with levels on this one. If you moved the white output level from 255 to about 225, it might give you some room to play around with saturation for the green leaves.

Great title! I wish there was less light above the tree - it seems overexposed in parts.

Symmetry of the tree branches creates interest. The trunk looks a bit too green.

I like the choice of tree, great branches giving a kind of spiral effect. I would like to see the base of the tree more in focus to help lead my eye into the shot (MHO)
