In Colorado, a dirt road means fifteen miles of potholes, washboard, and quite often the exposed rock of the mountainside. Moffat Road, a/k/a "The Hill Route", is no exception. I went up (and with an elevation gain of 4,000 feet, I mean up in search of a certain lake I wanted to shoot and along the way found an old tressel bridge from when the railroad actually ran through - I think it probably last did so about 75 years ago since the hotel that was once up there was established in 1928. Hikers are prohibited from crossing it these days, but I climbed into the gully underneath it for the wildflowers. Alas, my blue skies were gone by then, but what can you do?
