My family got together at a friends house with a pool. My brothers were throwing their sons from one end of the pool to the other. I was taking pictures the whole time. I couldn't have asked for a better setting, the pool was beautiful with flowers, the Ohio River and WV Mountains in the background.
Cropped, rotated, sharpened, adjusted levels and color balance.

Everything is sharp but the main subject. What's wrong with this picture?

I guess the photograph is taken at low ISO, I am seeing lot of blur around the boy.

Good timing, but would be improved if boy was in focus instead of background.

If only he were in focus... otherwise it would be a great shot! You certainly had the right idea.

nothing in this shot appears to be in focus. a faster shutter speed would have helped freeze the action. and the composition of the photo would be a lot better with less background and more attention on the action.

You used auto focus and got the back ground sharp, not the subject!

Okay, yes it is an action shot. But I would probably not have submitted this particular photo. The subject is completely blurry but not by design. Use a tripod next time and watch your exposure
