Taken at the Athens Olympic Stadium with absolutely no-one around. I am not sure if the silence will come out in the picture but it seemed very strange to be somewhere which had been the centre of an olympics 2 years ago and which now stood silent.

Hello from the Critique Club

I didn't vote for the Zen challenge so this is the first time I've taken a look at your image. I think the comments given during the challenge give a good summary as to why your image scored where it did. Overall the image quality is very good but I don’t think the voters felt this fit the Zen description very well. One commenter said the silence was too loud, meaning that the image is too busy and complicated. Another thought this would fit into an architecture challenge very well. Both are saying that this wasn’t the best subject to choose for a Zen challenge.

On the technical side, the lighting, composition and cropping of this image are very well done. I’ll make a couple of suggestions on what you could do different in post processing but they are based purely on my personal taste and not on any shortcomings I see in your image. First you might want to try making the sky a little bit bluer. Second, it would be interesting to see what a little more contrast would do for this image. Both of these could be accomplished using a combination of levels, curves, saturation or contrast and brightness.

I really like this image and I’m glad it got assigned to me for review. If you would like to discuss it further, feel free to PM me.

Tim

Beautiful, a person in the frame would have made it much more interesting IMO
