Ideally, a trip down to Kyoto would have been in order, but a bit hard (and expensive) to do even though I'm on summer holiday. So I went to Nikko, which is only 30 or so minutes up the road.
This is a little bowl of water next to a very expensive restaurant (which was closed on the day). Although the water was trickling from the bamboo pipe, it didn't make any noise.

I like the flowing water, but I think it would be better if you got right up in there. Don't be afraid to get too close.

The basin is too dark for my liking. Better lighting to bring out the "ripple wave" would have improved this shot.

I think the angle of this photo is slightly off putting but I like the idea :o)

I think I understand where you were trying to go with this, however I feel it's a little too busy. The colour and light also feels a bit harsh to me.

This is one of the few photos I could look at and guess that Zen was the message.

With that said, the forground being a bit out of focus drew my to the bottom. 7

I like this a lot, perhaps chaning the nagle to include something more interesting in the reflection in the water (or make it all black) would have improved it.
