I wish the water didn't have all that algae. This was actually a much more expansive image that incorporated a waterfall, but since that wasn't as silent as it could be I cropped it to maybe 10-15% of the original area. Thank goodness my camera has plenty of pixels and the lens is very sharp.

Straightened, cropped, curves, USM for contrast, resized, USM for sharpness, save for web.

Though it does appear to be a peaceful setting, the composition doesn't speak of zen to me. The rock in the center seems to be the focal point and it doesn't hold much appeal. A shot focused more on the little statue to the right and it's reflection might be a better choice.

IMHO concentrating on the tree and little stone 'temple' would have worked better as a composition but this is a nice idea :o)

Very nice calming colors in this image. I think the natural light looks good and the focus looks nice too though not completely tack sharp. Though this does depict what I consider a zen-like scene, there is so much going on in the image that I am not getting that still or harmonious inner 'zen' feel from it. It does have a good number of points of interest for the eye to view but there are so many its hard to center on one and become invested in it. Perhaps if the image was cropped down to explore the balance between the rock and the little statuary? Or the rock piercing the pond with the background blurred to a simple mass of green? Something that would take one of the many elements and break it down to something simplistic would feel more zen to me. I gave a 5

I would like to see more in the foreground as opposed to just the water. I am not sure what you had to work with, but typically a landscape is more pleasing with both a foreground and background subjects. This is something I am just learning! So take my advice with a grain of salt. Great concept though.

the rock in the middle of the pond looks like 'The Thinker' statue.
