Taken just before 1 am in the morning in heavy fog and almost no wind. Used a polarizer for the darkened effect on the water and a tripod obviously.
Post processing was mostly increasing contrast, cropped to a 7:4 ratio, a curves adjustment on just the rock and water, sharpened after resizing and added the vignetting. Healing brush to remove some of the water and little use of dodge/burn to darken the lightest portions of the photo and vice versa.
I firmly believe this photo will bomb and score very low, that or be extremely mediocre in this challenge but I really like it. I just went against the "rules" of dpc, no cyan in photos, low contrast, might even be called by less experienced photographers as being out of focus and not dramatic at all, I firmly expect a lot of comments about it needing to be clearer, sharper, more contrast etc.
I still really like it and this photo works well printed out BIG, this is one of those photos that doesn´t really work well in web resolution. It´s going up on our wall at home along with two other similar shots I took the same night. Oh well, hopefully at least one of you will favorite it :) |

Needs to be sharper and have more drama ;)
I really like the tranquility that the cool colours give to this image, this is further reinforced by the low contrast and softness of the mountains. Very Zen.
The vignette doesn't really do it for me. Maybe if it was more subtle. |

This is totally out of focus, lacks drama and could be sharper, clearer. :P
Since it scored below your average you were right it did finish as mediocre but it did get a fav as you had hoped.
To be serious for a moment, I voted this a 6. While I didn't leave a comment during the challenge I felt the darken edges at the top detracted from the image. It may be fine as a full size image but with the short height and the reduced real estate at the top due to the dark edges the image just felt too small.

| I gave this an 8. The 'feel'/mist that continues into the background/good dof showing the shapes of the land/mountains/hills/ranges, coupled with the water element works well. Not too sure on the dark 'vignetting', but likely adds to the above mentioned overall feel. |

| The cool tones are very nice, but I don't care for the vignetting - sort of closes down the picture which takes away from it's "zen". |

Not sure if the vignetting is intentional or not but I find it distracting, I do like the mist and the hills inthe B/G
