originally i wanted to take the shot of my keyboard since it had black and white. but then i remembered i saw a picture about hollow man on dpchallenge. so i thought hey hollow man dressed up in black and white and ready to jam!
the lighting was done with a simple lamp , contrast adjustement was then done along with some cropping and cleaning up.

Great concept. I believe this image would have scored much better with a little refinement. Some more light on the jacket would stop the suit bleeding into the background (at least it does on my monitor), maybe some back-lighting. The whites are a bit dark and could be brightened up with a levels adjustment. I do not like the yellow colour from the lamp you used, I would prefer the white balance set to remove it. I would have cloned out the two bright spots between the hands. The image is a bit too tightly cropped at the top, I would maybe leave some room for the 'head'.

The light is neat the way it highlights the keys right at where the hands are to go.. Perhaps a little more light to define the suite from the background would of helped this do even more better.
All in all a fantastic composition.
I love piano..

i think some backlighting could've made this a little sweeter, just enough to see his outline

Different, interesting shot

very creative, I like the way you did this, especially that you went that extra step to get some of the keys depressed. 8

Clever, and fun. A different pose would be more effective, I think, but a fun and cool idea :)

Good idea, and the shirt collar hanging in space is eye-catching. I just wish the whites were truly white instead of being so dark. Maybe that's to hide what's holding up the clothes?

I've seen sevral keyboards...but your added dimension of the 'player" makes it the best...so far

I would've liked to have seen this image a little lighter and with the wrists straight like he is actually playing the piano. But other than that, I applaud your originality. Nice Job.

nice idea.. did you tape the keys down? the only detail i notice is inside the sleeve it looks like paper showing. otherwise very awesome.

the idea is excellent, but you still have to work with the technique, anyway, you have creativity

Great Job on putting this together.

Creative and well executed. Bumping to an 8.

I think your trick would have been a little more convincing if his sleeves weren't resting on the piano. It also needs a bit more lighting and a sharper focus. I'm sure you put a lot of work into setting this up, though, so good job on that. :)

Clever idea. This could have really jumped out with better lighting and setting your B/W points to get truly crisp whites and blacks. Keep at it - it's ideas like this that will pay off for you in the long run (at least for DPChallenges anyway). ;^)
