(Mom's notes - submitting for JJ because he is at his Dad's this weekend and we ran out of time Friday night to get the uploading done.)

Set up, execution, naming and concept all from Jon (with a little assistance setting up the lighting and fire control from Mom). Entire shot set up on the dining room table. Lighting is one small Brolly Box mounted on a backlight stand positioned directly over the pot. Backdrop is black posterboard bent upward and clipped (with one of moms hair clips) to a small end table layed on its side.

Jons origional idea involved stage lighting, outdoors, suspending siblings from wires as angels over a car wreck and extreme costuming. As well as a fog machine. And fireworks.

Then he figured out that he could make shiny copper pennies look like gold ones with a little slide on the Hue bar, and remembered I have a tiny little candle shaped like a cauldron.

Chemistry lesson from Mom. Lots of spilled vinegar and salt all over the counter resulting from penny cleaning adventure.

He still was reqesting that fog machine however.

Smoke ended up coming from cutting up an incencse stick into 4 smaller parts and then having Mom light them and arrange them on the pennies so that they couldnt be seen. Smoke controll from Mom standing behind the poster board hyperventilating on cue from JJ.

Raw conversion, curves, hue/saturation, some selective blur on the coins to remove some of the more obvious pennymarkings, some spot healing to remove bits of ashes from the back of the pot. Not much done for PP, it looks pretty close to what he did in the camera.

Moms really proud of him on this one and thinks that shes gonna have to come up with something pretty cool to compete. :)

Wow, Kryta ... NICE job! I am the person who gave you a 10 on this and you know what? It was the only 10 I gave in the whole challenge! I gave lots of nines, but only one 10. Cool, since I see from your profile that that is how old you are. Hope you keep up with photography because you're really good! The most important thing is that you enjoy it, but it looks like you must've had fun with this shot. Yay for you! I'll be looking for future challenge entries from you.
