I took this on a scuba diving trip I took in the San Juans recently with my dad. I wasn't planning on taking any serious pictures up there but the tide exchanges where very heavy while we were there which made many of the dive sites too currented to dive. So we ended up with alot of free time which I decied to use to take a picture for the beach challenge.

i think i would have shifted the focus to the interesting trees in the back, keeping the same camera position.

I like it. I've always loved photos where the thing that should be te subject isn't in focus. Good job.

Those out of focus background figures are dizzying to look at. They spoil the effect. Either enough DOF to get them into focus, or crop them out.

Heeded to be clearer.

Cool, almost looks like a miniature.

Too little DoF for my liking. Not sure what the subject of interest is in the focused area? Sound idea but needs better execution.

Trying different thigs is good but what is the subject of this picture? The focus in the foreground is on...sand? We never make it back to the potentially interesting figures in the background. A foreground subject to go along with the one in the background would help.

Great job

The concept is great and without the "island" it would be very good. I find the OOF "island" distracts me too much from the sand in front.

I'm not crazy about the shallow DOF. Nice colors though, if the background would have been in focus it would have scored higher.

I do not like the shallow depth of field.

Trees in the background look like some kind of mythical creature. Nice use of shallow DOF, too. 9

san juan beach doesn't look very comfortable!
but you've captured a good perspective of it and used a good depth of field.

Needs jusst a touch more focus. Great idea, though.

I don't like the DOF here. I do like the contrast on the sand though. And can see some halo effects in the sky. 5

Bizarre...too much noise in sky though.

A good different take on the theme.

Too much crud in the sky. Not really sure where I'm supposed to focus. Try again with a bit more depth of field, and focus on nearest object.
