Taken with my hand and camera inside a plastic pitcher to get close enough to where this wolf spider and her brood were temporarily captured. This was the only way I could take the picture without losing my subject. My hand and arm had imaginary baby spiders crawling on them for hours afterwards.

Not too bad, although it was obviously taken in captivity and doesn't look natural at all. One other problem; there's no way I'm going to give a good rating to a spider when the challenge is titled "INSECTS". A spider is an arachnid, and anyone who tries to pass one off as an insect deserves to lose points.

Nice use of intimacy. The contrasts could be enhanced a bit and the overwhelming whites are a little distracting.

Bad Bubba! Not listening to Momma.
Great shot! Really gives me the creepy crawlies.

What is the surface? Is this a captive spider? Certainly amazing

Now that's a spider macro.

I'd like to know what your background is (A plate?), as this helps the composition which is great in every way from layout through to the background itself.

Technically I'd say a tiny bit greater depth of field might have made the hairs on the spider's legs a little bit clearer.

Easily the best spider shot I've seen yet.

Many spiders, but no insects. You didn't meet the challenge.
