 The Great Salt Lake used to have several steam ships that would go around the lake and move both people and supplies around. These are pilings from the old railroad very near Promontory Point, where the transcontinental railway was connected with a golden spike. The pier that was here probably loaded and/or unloaded supplies from and to the train by wagon to this spot. These and similar pilings are being lifted from the lake now. It is being made into aged-wood flooring, fireplace mantles, and other high end products.

PP: I first did a color clean by shifting to the Lab Color and blurring channels A and B. Converting back to RGB, I used the Channel Mixer to convert to b/w. I used unsharp mask then at a very high pixel radius and low percentage to bring out the texture of the pilings and add contrast to the details. I think cropped, converted to size, and posted. Enjoy!
