Wow that is one ugly insect. Excellent macro with good detail. You might want to try spot editing out the cracks in the wood they seem to take your attention from the bug to the leaf.

The glare is a bit distracting, but this is a nice detailed image of an unusual insect. I like the wood it is on and the unfocused leaf in the background.

Wow! Creepy - what a monster. Glad we don't get those in our garden.

Depth of field is good. The leaf in the background is hideous.

Cool bug!!

Man those things are disgusting. Nice shot.

A Jerusalem Cricket. Creepy. I found one in my shoe once when I was camping. Nice composition and lighting. Perhaps could use a bit o' contrast and color saturation. Nice.

I think 'I've Fallen and I Can't Get Up!' would be a good title for this. ;) I like the composition, but I think the colors could be enhanced a bit. Good focus no the insect.

Sharp, clear image, good depth of field.

Ugh - what is it? Very clear whatever it is.

that is a really fascinating bug with the thorny legs and low to the ground approach...what is it? Very good capture - perhaps a bit cropped at the top would have brought the bug more center stage?

Excellant clarity

Are these those massive things in New Zealand? I'm terrified! Outstanding color and focus, wish I knew what kind of leaf that was so as to get more of a sense of scale, especially since wetas are so big.

Super shot. Cropping out more of the leaf would have made me happier.

Really good, don't know that I have ever seen a cricket like this before. Cool looking and you really captured him.

great details on the spiky hooks on his legs!

Cool bug. Never sen one like it.

Only to be found in New Zealand of course :-) When I was younger and at school I always got told that if one of these things bites you then it stays stuck in your skin and it is difficult to get them off. Is that true, or just a story? I never did find out. They give me the creeps!

Anyway, shooting a weta was a good idea. It is in focus and sharp, however I would have rather seen it with all the feelers in the frame.
