sometimes the background becomes the detail; in these shots the true photographer emerges. when you shoot a certain person or solitary subject; the persona or spirit of the subject is the main focus, despite the hubris of the photographer, who, unlike the painter, has a difficult time portraying the subject in a "artist driven light" for lack of a better term; here, you have used the background as a "mental wallpaper" We see the artist in the photographer, and to me thats what the challenge should be about, not some focal subject, it shouild be about the lines; hence, you were robbed. |
