Not seeing "progress" other than the boat is 'progressing' in a forward direction. The background detracts, if the boat is your focus, as it tends to blend in with it. Overall colors seem a bit washed out and flat - lacking contrast.

I'm not certain what the subject is. Ocean, boat, or the sky? The ocean and sky don't contrast at all. The boat is not really visible.

Looks too snapshot like - apply the rule of thirds and it may help. The boat at the right heading left is good though
