This used to be one of the most active train stations in OK. But the Union Pacific public line quit running on this line back in 1970. I first discovered this photographic jewel back in 1994 when I started my commute between Jefferson City Missouri and Dallas Texas. So for the next 10 years I drove past this depot and on occasion stopped and ‘shot it up’. It’s sad because this depot is no longer being maintained and is now really starting to fall apart. It also appears to have turned into a late night party location.

In 94 it was open and still had the cool leather bench seats, a huge bronze cash register and a bunch of ticket dispensers. All of the glass was intact and the paint wasn’t too bad. You could still see personal effects left by employees!

I no longer have this commute but about once a year I make the 5 hour drive up to this landmark for a shoot. I’ll miss it when its gone and that will be in about 2 years at this rate.
