Ok, I have to admit that the heart shaped lighting was unplanned and an added bonus. I had the "tomato juice" idea, so set up the shot accordingly - looked through the lens and…"COOL!" I took 4 practice shots before cutting the tomato, and then cut it in a way to maintain the heart shape light reflection (which took some time finding again after cutting - had to get the angle just right). Took another 8 shots after cutting the tomato - to get various angles, tried a few with water mist on the tomato, etc. This was the 2nd shot taken after the 4 practice ones. I'm pretty pleased with the results - I knew what I wanted and really didn't see a need for any more than the 12 shots taken once I saw the heart-shaped light reflection. Hopefully the voters will find it appealing as well.

I shot in RAW+Lrg JPEG mode. Threw the JPEG into PS, hit my "H640" action (resize to horizontal 640, save for web) and that's it! What you see is what you get! Note to 20D users, DEFINITELY set your noise reduction custom function to "ON" when taking long exposure shots - makes a huge difference. I took two test shots without it and found artifacts in the image (a couple of blue and red pixels). The only down side is the exposure takes 30sec and then the camera takes another 30sec to process the noise reduction before you can view the picture.

I used the same lighting set-up (homemade diffuser over desklamp) as I did for the Still Life challenge - it's amazing what you can accomplish with a cheap desklamp, poster board and a napkin!

Great. But let's not splash any on the ribbon!!! Crisp, clear, and delicious!!!

Came back to bump this up a little. 10

One question though, wha did you use to cut the tomato? A razor blade!

I do to! Especially spicy tomato juice, like bloody mary mix. Great photo. The lighting is dead on, as is the composition. Was the heart intentional or just a happy accident?

Very graphic - very nice - was unsharp mask used? I see an edge around the tomato top that doesn't look natural -
