My first challenge after a long hiatus (October I believe). Not sure if I'm fully satisfied with this, but I'm entering it anyways. I would prefer if more of the glass was in focus, but I didn't feel like breaking another bulb to reshoot :)

Was lucky my girlfriend wasn't home or else she'd have a fit if she saw me breaking bulbs and leaving them on the floor on purpose. Guess I'll have some explaining to do if she ever sees this :)

Can't believe I missed the damn black bar at the top of the shot :( I was so excited to be submitting for a challenge again, I guess I was just focused on the main subject. Thanks everyone for the votes and comments. It's great to be back :)

I didn't get all the way through voting :( I sowwy!
I'd have given it an 8, though, for the reasons listed below (I'm too lazy to type my own ;) )
Now... CLEAN THAT UP!!

Evocatively captured. The stark lighting and use of monochrome works well to create a sense of urban blight that goes beyond a mere broken light bulb.

I'm going to assume a light bulb was harmed for the making of this picture. It is a compelling picture, though, and I do lie it in B&W.

nice sharpness & edgy post-processing. I think I'd get rid of the black line at the top of your photo and / or frame the broken bulb a bit less tight.

I like the focus and the contrast on the edge of the glass pieces.

After seeing so many light bulbs in this challenge, this is a nice change.

LOVE the title and the photo ! GREAT composition and use of b/w ! I think I would crop out the top black area. 9

One of the best of the lightbulb entries. Hard to decide if I like the black bar at the top but I think I'm leaning to cropping it out.

I think more DOF would have been better. I don't think enough of it is sharp. Also removing the black band at the top is an improvement IMHO. I like the mood created by the black and white treatment.
