I wanted to take a photo of something creative and while I was thinking I watched my brothers race a toy HOT WHEELS truck and a 2 inch ball that lights up around the living room carpet. The ball won of course but I didn't care. The ball and truck had given me an idea!
This is what I did:
1.I vaccuumed a blue carpet(and the rest of the house as well)
2.I grabbed a side of the carpet, lifted it up and propped a suitcase there to keep it up.
3.I placed a truck on the carpet and put my camera in front of it. I prefocused my camera and bounced the ball to make it light up.
4.I pressed the shutter the rest of the way as I rolled the ball through the scene.

Hey there from the Critique Club

Camera Work/Technical: I do agree with Rebecca that the highlights are a bit blown. However, I do like the movement that you created with the background. I think that this was a very creative idea.

Lighting: Just a touch too harsh. If this had been toned down just a little, I think that the voters would have been more fond of it.

Composition/Content: I also think that your composition needed some work. While I am no stickler for the 'rules of photography,' I think that the centering did not work very well for this one.

My Opinion: You absolutely met the challenge, and did so in a very creative manner. I just don't think that it was what the majority of the voters had in mind for the challenge. Even still, I like it, and with some minor lighting and composition changes, I think that it would have pulled a better score.

Besides the blown highlights on the truck, I'm not fond of the moving glowsticks(?) in the background.

I'm missing the motion here... It looks like the lights behind the truck are being moved... And that's certainly motion blur -- but it doesn't impart any sense of motion in the subject. I think I would better like a shot similar to this where the truck was actually rolling (the wheels would blur) past a blurred background that was caused by the movement of the truck. Perhaps it's just a difference in "artistic preference" though.
