Who knows how this will be accepted? I sure don't. I wanted to go with something original. Across the whole world the pursuit of gold in the mountains is universal. So I wanted to capture that. I went into the Rockies as the sun fell and it was late. I wanted to get the rapids below barreling by and had a flashlight that gives off a yellow glow. I thought, "hmm, that could make it look like golden rocks". So i tried it. Long exposure like 30 secs or something. Believe it or not, those rapids are massive. They are actually Class VI and running them is perilous and rare. The water was at peak last week. The size of these boulders were maybe 20 ft by 20 ft by 10 ft or something. The drop off in the rapids in the upper left was maybe a 12 foot drop in reality. So... yeah. I used a wide angle, so you can't even begin to understand the power here. I was all alone and I really tried to take my time climbing down into the gulch. One poor step and maybe no more me. Enjoy.

Beautiful! Congratulations on a great finish. And thanks for reminding us of 'painting with light.'

This a super running stream shot. Very nice silky effect, good deep colors. Not a strong fit to the challenge or your caption.

The silky smooth river looks great, the exposure is dead on. The path of the river as composed, seems to divide the photo and make it rather static.

Beautiful picture not quite sure about it meeting the challenge though..cos There's Gold Up in Dem Hills isnt really either Superstitions & Urban Legends..

OoOOoooh, nice! Gotta love the long-exposure-river-water shots ;) I'm just not so sure about that golden light cast on the foreground rocks. It seems to stand out too much from the overall cool, blueish tones of the stream. It keeps pulling my eyes toward it, instead of the river. 8

Beautiful shot! :) The gold tone on the rock contrasts very well with the blue tones in the rest of the image.

I like this, though I think the water looks a little too much like cloud or mist - perhaps a slightly shorter exposure would have worked better? Nice colour on the rocks in the foreground though - would love to know how you achieved this

Nice composition and I like the lighting of the lower rocks which really does make them look golden. The water may be a touch too blurred. 7

Mostly wonderful. To MY liking, the exposure was a bit too long, I would have liked to see a touch more detail in the water. However, the lighting on the "gold" rock is superb!

I LOVE how the shot is divided in 3 parts: the glowing gold in the lower part, the soft water in the middle and the chiseled stones in the upper part. The water even looks like mist or something. Great colours! 10p!

Personaly, I don't care for these type of shots. with the water looking like foam or smoke or cloud or whathave you. It is not an image I really care for, looking at the other elements as well. For soem reason it really doesn't hold my attention. and the 'gold' looks added on in pp. Doesn't sell the image for me.
