Not sure if I care for the title... but whatever :-) Red, white and blue baby! This photo is actually fairly simple I used a white sheet of printer paper on which I layed the nails and hammer, then I took my new lamp which has a blue head and a red head (gooseneck) and positioned them to get the double colors.. thats pretty much it. I cropped, sharpened and voila! Not sure how it will do, but I kind of like it.

The two colored lights create an artistic effect that adds interest to an otherwise mundane subject. I think it would be better if there was less red and more blue on the head. The nails are nicely arranged so the shadows take good advantage of the lighting. Overall the image is blurry and some detail is lost in the shadows.

Bad focus ?

This is funny. The sharp tacks are placed outside the main focal point, but the flat hammer is inside. Makes me think that there's an irony intended here. The title suggests the building of your country, and the blood-like colours emphasise the blood and sweat that went into the making. Compositionally well-balanced. Your use of light is effective. However, I don't feel any overall "wow" here. 6
