Creative. I thought you might enter something with circular OOF points :) You are definitely a macro master, and you're on my short list of favorite photographers. But what bothers me about this shot is the lighting on the spoon and table. IMO, it is too harsh. Many areas are "blown" to pure white. Although, of course, there's nothing necessarily wrong with that, it just isn't working for me on this shot. Personally, I would have used a more diffused light and taken care not to blow highlights. I think that would have given the shot a more pleasing, gentler feel (not to mention a more "professional", DPChallenge-voter-pleasing look!) But that's just me :)

Thank you all very much, all the comments are much appreciated.

As for most of the spoon being out of focus, I call it "artistic license". I like it that way :) All I wanted in focus is the tip and a bit of the rim of the spoon, the handle and the back/inside were supposed to be out of focus, the handle has bokeh circles on it.

He, he, I guess that goes to show that artistic license isn't going to get me anywhere here. Oh well.

Magical capture. Amazingly creative yet simple image. Really thought this one would place better. Most of the spoon being OOF wasn't a big deal for me.

beautiful photo, great background idea. I like the composition. I would try to use some pattern paper for the surface, rather than pure white, just to get some interesting reflection on the back of the spoon.

This is a clever idea. The bokeh is especially exotic and pleasing. I wonder if there is someway to enhance the overall impact? Perhaps including more or all of the spoon handle. Could be totally wrong and most likely am. 7.

Love the idea of this but the spoon seems slightly out of focus to me. The background is gorgeous. Maybe if you backed up a bit and showed more of the spoon? Hmmmm -
