Ha. I like your style. When I read your shirt I thought it said "Runa". Ah well, tuna it is. To be honest this reminds me of one of those hostage photos. That room sure can pass for a prison cell.

Hi OJ-

I actually liked the minimalism in this one. Image grain and a sort of burnt out quality are quickly becoming your hallmarks. The only thing I can really critique here is that the camera appears to be slightly off center. If you look at the floor and ceiling lines, they're not symmetrical.

Definitely grossly underscored. I was one of your nine 10s because I knew it would be underscored and wanted to bump it up as much as I could.

Am rather a fan of your stuff. Good job. Don't worry about scores, just keep shooting.

Thank you for the comments and the faves, and a million sorries for my sucky notes.

For those who care for specifics:

This photo wasn't taken with the challenge in mind.
This shot was a photographic representation of what I was feeling at that moment.

The obsured face, the slouch, the removed sandals, the TUNA shirt that should've been PUMA, and the bare unfinished room all deal with feelings of uncertainty and lack of self confidence.

Counterbalancing the negativity are the centered composition, for stillness amidst chaos, and the wedding ring, for clarity of thought and strength of will -- as as of the date of shooting, I've been married for four days.

The title was to say that whatever is being said was not in what was being shown. Even then, the photo is open to interpretation for those who wish to share its reality.

P.S. The sucky photographer's comments was the introvert half of me who finds baring one's self, even in such an obscured manner, emo. Again, sorry for this.

Edited just because.

I could swear I've seen this image before? Forum post or something? Hmmm. Oh well...anyway, this is an interesting image for this challenge. It's very well exposed for being a 30 second plus shot. Might have liked to see the subject in one of the corners rather than being centered.

Good luck in the challenge.

There are less than a handful of photos in this challenge that have something to say. This is one of them. 9.

Terrific. It's really about what the title says it's about. And it has some wonderful details to add to the mood of uncertainty, disquiet and ambiguity; the Tuna shirt, the shoes set aside, the light fitting like a transporter beam, the crude wiring box, and most of all the cell-like room in which this psychological autopsy takes place. Also admirable is the fact that the effect of the long exposure is subtle and yet important to the meaning of the photograph (in most other entries it's the opposite; overpowering and yet pointless). 10.

You succeeded in creating an emotional response in me. I don't want to be here, that's for sure. You hint at a story (which I like). Why is this person here? For how long? Why is he (she?) wearing a wedding ring? I can see this in Newsweek or Time, or some such. I think the title diminishes the photo. You could have used the title to continue to tell the story.

this is great due to a number of reasons. principally is its unabashed artsy almost pretentious feel which is superb. it's a very dark, moody gallery friendly image. the white room, the use of negative space, the noise in the image, it all combines to make a very effective shot. and the facelessness is just the crowning glory. 9.

Clever, but I had to dig out a dictionary. Others voting may not go through those lengths. Nice B&W, I like the grain, it adds to the mood of the pic. Good Luck.

this is the kind of picture i really enjoy seeing in this challenge...no glowy lights, no nightscapes, etc. very edgy in its own sort of way, the negative space far above his head leaves room for thought, his obscured face, the removed sandals. the grain. yes.

totally awesome.

Very scary feel to this photo. The face being blurred reminds me of a movie called The Eye. I like this shot!
