| To me, this challenge is about finding a way for a blurry background to relate somehow to the subject. You've done a nice job singling out the subject, but the background doesn't play a role. |

I am trying to be positive and give you a critique that is valid. The problem I have with the shot is that either too little or too much is in view. I think shallower dof or to widen the shot would have made the subject more interesting. Green on green with a pale bit of very shadowed dark brown underneath doesn't offer much in the way of interesting contrast or color.
This would be a great shot to send to a magazine on ferns, because it would help people figure out what type of plant that it is. I don't see the bokeh tie in, but that is ok. |

I have an outtake similar to this. ;^) I like the way you composed this with the diagonal across the image. The shadows on the main fern are kinda cool, from the leaves above). Not really seeing too much bokeh in here (you've probably already heard that...).

| Definitely meets the challenge and exhibits proper bokeh. The subject matter leaves me wanting (not because it's a plant - I have nothing against plants/flowers - it just lacks a "wow" factor for me). Good luck! |
