Shot on the Laconia Scenic train. Thanks to my cousin Sierra for trying to look desolate. I changed to blue Duotone to set the mood, adjusted levels, sharpened and cropped just a little.

Greetings from the Critique Club Dexter!

At first glance I like the shot. The expression is great and Sierra is ceertainly a beautiful subject. The crop is nice as is the shutter speed used to show motion.

My critiques would be just a couple of things. The blue cast is a bit too.....well.....blue. While it is lovely, I think a high contrast black and white or sepia might've worked a bit better for this type of image to show desolation. The other thing is that, while it is a nice picture, it doesn't really scream desolation to me. I think her clothes and the way she was wearing them sorta hindered you from recieving the high votes needed to place in the top ten. The emblem on the shirt looks to be something "sporty" (it may not be but it does look that way) and how she has it unzipped seems to be more sultry than desolate.

Overall a nice image that Sierra should be proud to hang on her wall.

Thanks for the opportunity to critique this shot Dexter.

Cheers - Phil

i love the color cast here, i think i would have taken it landscape and maybe leaning on the window or her arm or something.

Thoughtful, reminiscing, blue all come to mind. Desolation is further down the list.
