I really don't think this is going to do all that well. I've reshot it several times, and just am not getting the picture that was in my head. But, this shot was a pain to do - jumping out of the tub, pushing the timer button, jumping back in and trying to get all set up before the 8 seconds were up. I trashed the bathroom. So, dang it, I'm submitting it!

Greetings from your own critique club. Sorry for not being able to comment for a while on your entries.

First Impression
Good take on challenge, with okay execution.
Composition:
Did not like the panaromic view. Looks too small for DPC. Also, I didn't like too much bubles.
Subject:
Like the subject, meets the challenge.
Technical (Colour and light):
The color and lighting in the front is okay.
Improvement:
Regular corp instead panaromic. Less bubles, may be tripod little bit higer.
Summary:
Good idea, with regualr corp and different angle would have scored more.

Cheers!!

Hi!

I like the concept. Maybe more candels just out of the rame would give it more of a glowing light? I'm not to sure about the size of the image, though I do like the length of it.

Greetings from CTP2

Hi Margie. Let me first say I like the crop. I think that helps make the shot more interesting and eliminates any other distractions that may have been present. The problem I have with this shot is what Rebecca mentioned. It feels incomplete. I do like the bubbles which are over the top and perfect for this challenge but beyond that I feel the rest is lacking. I also don't like seeing the back of your head which kinda looks like its an inanimate object as if it's just hair sitting on top of a stereofoam head. Maybe show a bit of your profile and neck so it feels more real. Lastly, I feel the focus is too much on the candles, IMO. The candles situated in that dark corner has a lot of contrast and therefore my eyes pull to that instead of you.

Hello from Álex, CTP MkII

First Impression: Ahhh... superb title for the concept. Relaxing shot (not for the photog...LOL). I can barely imagine the way your bath was after some tries of self portrait like this.
Composition: like it, the crop, your head, the bubbles,...
Subject: very accurate for the challenge
Technical: a bit dark overall, colors need to bump a little bit more IMO. And focus is not very sharp in the bubbles.
Improvement: maybe a smaller aperture would have helped to improve the sharpness.
Summary: Nice idea and work.

Hello Margie!

This is a great concept. Great bubbles! I think the composition would benefit from some more, warmer lighting. There's a lot of dark and empty space, especially along the windows. I wonder if moving the camera more to the left and adding a vase of flowers or a box of chocolates would help? Definitely a couple lower votive candles on the ledge along the front right. Basically the scene just needs some fleshing out.

Nice would have worked better if you could see the expression on the persons face

Great image! I like the composition and the unusual aspect ratio - the panaromic-type proportions. Having the model facing away from the camera towards the candles reinforces the feeling of relaxation and indulgence. Something about the lighting doesn't look quite right (the clash between the low warm red light from the left of frame and the stronger white light from above?), although I imagine this would be difficult to light really well.

Would have preferred little wider crop

More light is needed to bring out the bather. I would like to see her contented face.
